Dolphins Chasing the Boat – When the Sea Smiles Back at You

The morning sun glowed softly over Crystal Bay when three dolphins appeared beside the boat. They moved like silver arrows through the turquoise water, keeping pace with the wake, surfacing again and again as if to greet us. Cameras came out instantly — laughter, cheers, and the sound of waves blended into a single perfect moment.

For several minutes, they swam in formation, just meters away, sometimes turning sideways so their eyes met ours. It felt as though the sea itself was smiling back. For every angler onboard, it was more than a beautiful sight — it was a blessing.

Our captain, with twenty years of experience, nodded knowingly. “Where dolphins appear, fish are never far away,” he said. And he’s right — dolphins follow schools of baitfish, and tuna follow the same trails. When you see dolphins, it means the water below is alive — full of food, energy, and movement. It’s nature’s way of saying: this is a healthy sea.

Moments like these remind us that fishing isn’t just about the catch. It’s about witnessing the balance of life beneath the waves. As the dolphins finally peeled away into the distance, the sea seemed even calmer, as if leaving behind a quiet promise of good fortune.

Later that day, we landed two solid tuna — proof enough that the captain’s words were true.
Where dolphins play, fish always stay.

25.08~09 Tuna Season Recap – 262 Fish Landed!

Every August, Crystal Bay wakes up to the deep rumble of diesel engines and the excitement of anglers preparing for the tuna run. In 2025, the new season opened with incredible momentum — in just two months, August and September, a record 262 tuna were landed. It marked the strongest start in years for the Gulf of Thailand, setting the tone for what promises to be a legendary season running through next April.
The success didn’t come by chance. Consistent water temperature, perfect currents, and strong baitfish presence created ideal conditions. Most catches occurred between 50–70 meters depth, where skipjack and yellowfin schools patrolled. The largest fish weighed an impressive 45 kilograms, while many averaged 15–20 kg — perfect size for both sport and dinner.

At dawn, when the first lure hits the water, the sea surface seems calm, yet beneath lies a battlefield. Captains carefully adjust trolling lines, watching sonar screens for hints of movement. When that reel starts to scream, every head on the deck turns. Anglers shout, hearts race, and muscles tighten. The adrenaline rush is the essence of Crystal Bay’s tuna season.
One highlight came on August 19th when three boats hooked tuna simultaneously — a rare “triple strike” that had the crews working in harmony to keep lines clear. All three fish were landed successfully, proving teamwork and timing matter as much as luck.
Now, with the season continuing through next April, Tom Tuna Club calls on all anglers to join the action. With 262 tuna landed in the first two months alone, this is shaping up to be the most exciting season yet.
